How groovy!
A five-bedroom home in Framingham, Mass. — a town located some 22 miles west of downtown Boston — has hit the market for $624,900 with perfectly preserved décor from the disco age, Buzzfeed reports. Shag carpets and all.
“The original owner built the house and customized it and did all the décor in the early ’70s,” the home’s listing broker, Matthew Cuddy of Century 21 Cuddy, told the news site.
The current owners have lived in this 4,133-square-foot house for over 20 years, but chose not to change the look of the interior, Buzzfeed adds. And, yes, that includes orange shag carpeting.
They made a good decision.
Wood-paneled passages lead to a bathroom that resembles a disco nightclub. Fully wallpapered with shades of pink, purple, red and yellow, a red-tiled floor adds extra pop, as does a bright pink vanity countertop. The sink, toilet and vanity are all black.
The kitchen boasts lime-green walls and lower cabinets, with bright yellow counters. Off to the side, there’s a roomy eat-in breakfast area dressed in the same color scheme. Five light yellow chairs surround a white, green and yellow table. Even the window treatments have the same tones.
Speaking of window treatments, the home has bedrooms whose shades perfectly match the bedspreads. One bedroom sports a chevron-patterned fabric with brown and peach touches that looks straight out of “The Brady Bunch.” The window and bed fabrics in the master bedroom — whose design is comparatively more subdued — are a blue-tone geometric arrangement.
The bones of the house include a formal dining room with a built-in buffet, a family room with a wet bar and two home offices. Outside, there’s a heated gunite pool.
The sellers have decided to sell or leave some of their furniture, should the new owners choose to keep the home as-is.
