George Whipple, the bushy-browed NY1 staple for society/celeb news and commentary (he is the host of their “On The Town” segment, as well as a practicing attorney) is selling his 5-acre upstate estate in Carmel, NY, for $2.77 million.

The main home has a wraparound back porch that looks out to the lake. Original details, like stained-glass windows, staircase railings and door hinges are still in place.
A second three-bedroom home on the property is mainly used to store Whipple’s art and antiques — including an old London taxi — and there are also outbuildings.
Whipple is related to late statesman Daniel Webster, and one of the homes includes a “Webster” room filled with memorabilia.
The listing brokers are Douglas Elliman’s Nancy Strong and Stacey Oestreich.
