It was designed by New York-born Marion Sims Wyeth, who is best known for creating lavish Palm Beach mansions for the rich and famous — including Mar-a-Lago, which he designed for Marjorie Merriweather Post.
Wyeth, known for creating extraordinary “temples of privilege,” was also the architect of Shangri La, Doris Duke’s residence in Diamond Head, Hawaii, outside Honolulu, which was built in 1937.
