Here’s a guy who knows how to paint the town red.

Lawrence Herbert — former chairman and CEO of Pantone, the famed brand behind universal color standards — has bought a second-floor unit at 45 E. 66th St. for $6.5 million, almost $1 million off its $7.45 million asking price.

The three-bedroom co-op is 3,450 square feet and features carved plaster moldings, a library with French doors and a master suite with two bathrooms.

Warburg listing agents Arlene Reed and Andrea Wernick declined to comment.

Last year, Lawrence was in the spotlight for listing his sprawling six-bedroom co-op at 778 Park Ave. for $39.5 million.

That price dropped to $35.5 million in June; the unit is currently off the market.

The unit, once owned by Brooke Astor, will return to market next week with Elliman.
