This isn’t your ordinary treehouse.

Italian architect Stefano Boeri has unveiled plans for a 36-story building in Lausanne, Switzerland, that will be the world’s first edifice to be fully covered in evergreen trees.

Called La Tour des Cèdres (“the cedar tower” in English), the building will be predominantly residential, with two- to five-bedroom apartments, offices, a gym and a restaurant on the top floor, according to design news site Dezeen.

As for its green features, real estate site Housely notes that the building will be home to over 100 trees, 6,000 shrubs and 18,000 plants.

Beyond its signature look, the greenery will help trap dust, muffle outside noise, release additional oxygen into the city and create more pleasant views for those living, working or playing on the inside.

This isn’t the first time Boeri has worked with trees. A pair of skyscrapers he designed in Milan incorporated an arboreal component — though it didn’t cover the entire structure. Dubbed Bosco Verticale, or “vertical forest,” the project has a number of trees planted on its balconies.
