This Soho apartment at 100 Prince St. was once owned by the late theater director and producer James Hammerstein, the son of Oscar Hammerstein II — of Rogers and Hammerstein fame.

The 2,082-square-foot, two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit is now on the market for $4.95 million.

The home features traditional tin ceilings nearly 13 feet tall, large windows, hardwood floors and exposed brick.

In 1968, Paula Cooper opened Soho’s first major art gallery in two third-floor lofts at 96 and 100 Prince. 100 Prince is also noteworthy because it’s where Jean Michel Basquiat had studio space. In 1980, art dealer Annina Nosei opened a contemporary art gallery on the ground floor of the building.

The listing brokers are Sotheby’s Lois Nasser and Roberta Golubock.
