We’re not quite sure what Simone de Beauvoir and other writers, like F. Scott Fitzgerald, would make of the current status of their favorite former speakeasy.

It was resurrected as a high-end restaurant joint with writers’ photos and book jackets mounted on walls like museum pieces and fab food from chef Victoria Blamey.

Now the three-story house is also home to a finance guy, who’s just rented a duplex above the restaurant.

Michael Samuels, of Broome Street Capital, rented the renovated unit, which comes with its own roof terrace designed by landscape architect Steve Griggs, for $17,500 a month.

That amount was its asking price in July — down from its $20,000-per-month ask in June.

The 2,000-square-foot, three-bedroom residence comes with a private entrance, high ceilings, fireplaces and skylights.

“Finding a place like this with outdoor space in the West Village is like a unicorn. It’s very rare. They don’t come on the market that often, and I wanted to jump on it,” Samuels tells Gimme Shelter. “Living above a historic speakeasy kind of makes you feel like you are part of it, and I like that.”

The 24.75-foot-wide townhouse was briefly on the sales market for $12.75 million until last month. The listing brokers, who also repped Samuels, are Christopher Riccio and Matthew Pravda, of Leslie J. Garfield.
