He gave it the boot!
Shoe titan Steve Madden has finally sold his Upper East Side townhouse at 175 E. 73rd St. for $9.1 million, sources tell Gimme Shelter.
The 20-foot brick property first went on the market for nearly $9 million in 2013 and was most recently listed for $11 million in 2016.
Steve MaddenVictor Chavez/WireImageBuilt in 1860, the dwelling became home to a different kind of shoe cobbler in 1896, when a local blacksmith transformed it into a live/work space where he created horseshoes for owners of neighboring carriage houses.
In 1920, it was purchased by architect Francis Livingston Pell and later chopped up into co-op units, which Madden bought piece by piece for a $7.7 million sum as he and his then-wife, Wendy Ballew, restored the home to single-family status.
Corcoran’s Carrie Chiang repped the listing and the mystery buyer.
Madden has since moved into a shiny new condo at 252 E. 57th St., which he bought for more than $12 million in 2017.
