Douglas Elliman chairman Howard Lorber, the recently appointed chairman of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, spoke at a tribute dinner Monday night at Cipriani 42nd Street. In his talk, Lorber said that he visited Salonika, in Greece, where his grandmother was from and that only 2000 of 50,000 Jews survived there survived the Holocaust. The event honored Sheila Johnson Robbins, Elisa Spungen Bildner and Robert Bildner.

The event raised $2.5 million for the museum.

Guests included Nobel Peace Prize-winning writer Elie Wiesel’s widow, Marion, developers like Steve Witkoff and top brokers including Elliman’s Bruce Ehrmann, Roger Erickson, Oren Alexander and Lorber’s son, Michael.

Guests heard an exclusive preview of award-winning musician Ted Rosenthal’s jazz opera, “Dear Erich,” which, Rosenthal says, centers on the impact of the Holocaust on the children of survivors.
