Some major landlords held their sides laughing over Marx Realty CEO Craig Deitelzweig’s remarks last week disparaging Third Avenue, which he said was full of “commodity buildings” with which he didn’t want to be associated.
As we reported, Marx is changing the name of its prewar 708 Third Ave. to 10 Grand Central and moving the entrance around the corner to East 44th Street.
Douglas Durst, who owns five towers on Third, said: “When we first built on the East Side we used 42nd Street addresses. Then we switched to Third Avenue addresses, which seems to work fine since our buildings are full.”
L&L Holding Co. chairman David W. Levinson said of his fully leased 600 Third, “We get in the lower $70s per square foot and almost $80 in the tower floors.”
