Earth Day Celebration of Sustainable Living
In honor of Earth Day, the Visionaire, a green high-rise condo in Battery Park City, is hosting an eco-conscious living event. Indulge in eco-friendly treats, hands-on activities and more. There will be tours of the building’s green operating systems (microturbine, air filtration, solar photovoltaic panels, etc.) and speakers sharing everyday living tips. There will also be a raffle. Upstairs, Downstairs: The Upper East Side Tour
An all-new version of the classic 1970s series comes to PBS this month, so the Municipal Art Society decided to examine the history and development of the Upper East Side through the eyes of the rich and those who served them. After visiting a select group of mansions and exclusive clubs, the tour will cross Park Avenue to inspect humbler carriage houses once occupied by horses and grooms, as well as modest brownstones in the Treadwell Farm Historic District and the First Avenue Estate, an innovative housing project built for the working poor. 11 am. $15, $10 MAS members. Step aboard the teak decks of the Manhattan, a 1920s style yacht, for a leisurely around-Manhattan architecture tour, hosted by architects and members of the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter (AIANY).
