Veteran journalist Tom Brokaw is finally in contract to sell his Pound Ridge, NY, estate following a massive price cut. But he won’t break even on the Westchester property that he’s owned for decades, Gimme Shelter has learned.

The 36-acre gated compound, which first asked $6.3 million in June 2018, was last asking $4.25 million. That’s around the same price Brokaw and his wife, Meredith Auld, paid for the vacation retreat in 1998.

The property, at 43 South Bedford Road, was built in 1996. It features a great room with 18-foot ceilings, a stone fireplace, wide-plank pine floors and French doors that open to a screened porch.

There’s also a chef’s kitchen and a main-floor master suite with water views and a private terrace.

Elsewhere, there’s an apartment above a detached three-car garage and a private 5-acre lake with a dock.

Brokaw owns an additional 20 acres that have been split into two 10-acre parcels with lake frontage that have been approved for building — should this buyer, or another, wish to create a family compound.

The listing broker is Houlihan Lawrence’s Angela Kessel.
