Unusual houses, however, add just a little bit more flavor to travel. Take these upside-down houses.

These homes are sure to make you a bit queasy, but their unnatural charm keeps you wanting to learn more about why they were built flipped.

Niagara Falls is the main attraction, but when you’re done getting soaked, there is the Upside Down House on the Canadian side to look at. The home is yellow with a red “roof” and has potted flowers on every window.

This dizzy destination is both flipped and crooked, and includes all the furniture when you walk through. It includes a master bedroom, a bathroom, a kids’ room and a kitchen. The floor will keep you guessing how far you need to tilt to stay straight.

In St. Petersburg, you can find a colorful upside-down-house museum to tour. Normal activities, like playing with a PlayStation console and toys or putting things on your nightstand, are encouraged to do while standing upside down. These items all hang from the ceiling. Even a motorcycle and refrigerator balance above your head. 

WonderWorks is exactly how it sounds – full of wonder. Built more like an amusement park, this tourist attraction invites guests from around the world to a plethora of games and educational adventures.

The imaginary tale behind WonderWorks involves a top-secret laboratory on a secluded Caribbean Island. Something goes terribly wrong when Professor Wonder — working on an experiment — causes an accidental unleashing of a tornado, which causes the house to be ripped from the island and land upside down in the Florida Panhandle.

The upside-down attraction includes an earthquake simulator, a bubble lab and a glow-in-the-dark ropes course. You can find a similar attraction in Orlando and four other locations nationwide.

Driving through the small village of Affoldern, you will see a red two-story house flipped upside down that opened in 2014. The Toppels Haus, also known as the Crazy House, is situated next to a small cafe. The house balances on an angled roof while a set of stairs leads into the attic window. You can also see a car hung upside down. Inside, a green- and white-tiled open space fills the living area. It also has a children’s bedroom and bathroom. 

A calming sky-blue home sits upside-down in another village in Germany. This was the first topsy-turvy design in the country.

Built in 2008 by Polish architects Klaudiusz Golos and Sebastian Mikiciuk, the project, titled “Die Welt Steht Kopf,” or “The World Upside Down,” was crafted with deep meaning. The idea is to encourage guests to view everyday things from a different perspective. Fully furnished with with an idyllic design, the home gives the impression that it fell from the sky. 

This three-story upside-down structure is located on the island of Phuket in Thailand. Painted in Camellia pink, the building is part of a more extensive park that includes a giant maze in a garden, two escape rooms and a coffee shop. Tourists can enter the contemporary-designed home through the attic and make their way through the flipped property. 

This version of the upside-down house is supposed to be an extension of the actual White House.

Called Top Secret, the property is an eerie tourist attraction that takes you on a tour of the “White House basement,” where all the confidential information is stored. But now it’s been exposed to guests, along with other mysterious rooms and dimly lit tunnels. Information ranges from what the government exactly knows about Area 51 whether or not UFOs are real.

Located in Wisconsin Dells, this attraction reveals the answers in a playful and thought-provoking way. 

This upside-down house in Szymbark, Poland, is reportedly the first flipped house in Europe.

Built in 2007 at the foot of a hill, this strange-looking log cabin was created to showcase the uncertainty of life during the country’s communist regime. The two-story structure is built tilted on purpose so guests can climb through an attic window to explore the home by walking on the ceiling.

The interior is furnished to imitate the 1970s, when Poland was under communist rule. It’s part of an educational experience.

This bright yellow upside-down home is a ray of sunshine. Located in the European town of Tartu, Estonia, this is one of the more ordinary homes, with simple furniture and appliances. The only abnormality is that it is flipped on its head. 

This upside-down quintessential cottage is located near the KL Tower in Kuala Lumpur, the seventh-tallest structure in the world. The orange house is very specific in detail from the moment you walk in. From picture frames to diapers and toys in the kids’ room, nothing has been left out.

The building also comes with flower beds, really giving you the vibe that you are defying gravity. The property usually hosts birthdays or family specials.
