The children of the late author, journalist and philanthropist Barbara Goldsmith are putting her East Hampton estate on the market for $5.99 million — far less than its original asking price of $10.5 million. (It’s been on and off the market since 2013.)

Among her many awards and accomplishments, Goldsmith, who passed away in June, was a founding editor and writer at New York magazine and created and funded the PEN/Barbara Goldsmith Freedom To Write Award for writers of conscience who have disappeared and/or were tortured and imprisoned around the world.

The traditional-style two-story home, at 86 Georgica Road, was built in 1900. At 5,000 square feet, it comes with five bedrooms, 4½ bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen with a breakfast area by a bay window, three fireplaces and French doors that lead to a terrace overlooking the grounds.

There’s also a circular pool and a guest cottage — all on 1.15 acres and 0.64 miles from the beach, according to the listing.

The listing also says that the garden, designed by the late James van Sweden, comes with “irreplaceable specimen trees, ornamental grasses and flowers.”

The listing brokers are Douglas Elliman’s Justin Agnello, Michaela Keszler and James Keogh.
