With a new year upon us, plenty are setting new fitness and wellness goals.
However, it’s important to be mindful about becoming more active. Sure, you can have a robust, daily exercise schedule, but it’s important to listen to your body and find a customized plan or routine that works for you.
That led me to Alo Moves — the at-home studio specializing in online yoga, meditation, HIIT, barre, pilates and more.
As a forever fan of Alo Yoga (especially for matching workout sets), I was excited to try out the platform from the comfort of my home. With plenty of class offerings — with different difficulty levels and durations — I found that I could easily adopt the platform as part of my fitness practice. Not to mention, I’ve been using Alo Moves for a full year.
Understandably, I feel ready to speak on the diversity of offerings, its benefits, and why it may be worth exploring in 2025.
What is Alo Moves?
Alo Moves is an online fitness and wellness platform that hosts several on-demand programs. Classes are divided into the following groupings:
- Yoga: This includes Vinyasa, Hatha, Restorative, Ashtanga, Kundalini, Prenatal/Postnatal, and Kids Yoga.
- Fitness: This includes Pilates, Barre, Strength, Core, Sculpt, HIIT, Stretching, Dance, Running, Walking, Gym, and Prenatal/Postnatal.
- Mindfulness: This includes Meditation, Sound, Breathwork, Yoga Nidra, and Reiki.
- Wellness: This includes Sleep, Self-Care, Cycle Synching, Nutrition and Personal Growth.
- Skills: This includes Flexibility, Inversions, Mobility, Backbends, Arm Balances, How to Teach, and Yoga Poses.
As noted, Alo Moves has a wealth of options that span farther than the typical 30-minute fitness class. You can also sharpen skills, improve your wellness and learn different realms of the yoga practice.

What’s more, Alo Moves divides classes by duration so you can always find a program that works best for your schedule. This came in handy for me, as my hybrid work environment allowed me to tune on Alo Moves in the mornings when I was working from home and in the evenings when I headed back from my office commute.
Class times are broken down into 0-15 minutes; 15-30 minutes; 30-60 minutes and 60 plus minutes.
Additionally, you can select an online workout class by difficulty level: beginner, moderate, intermediate, and advanced.
2024: A Year-in-Review
I loved using the Alo Moves platform consistently in 2024. It was an incredible year of growth and innovation for the platform. It launched its first-ever educational series — Nutrition Unfiltered and Art of Sleep — both led by leading experts.
“These series have helped us expand our wellness offerings, providing members with trustworthy resources to support their overall health,” Trindall shared. “Following these successes, we introduced Embodiment, our first series dedicated to sexual wellness, featuring insights from a licensed sex therapist.”
In 2024, Alo Moves also celebrated a major milestone with the release of its first Spanish-language series, led by the amazing Annie Landa. This step was monumental in making Alo Moves more inclusive and accessible to the global community — and it’s just the beginning.
All about the workout classes
I’ve been enjoying Alo Moves, particularly for its keen focus on yoga. While other options are available (as listed above) the breadth of yoga types is much more vast compared to other workout programs I’ve tried, like obé Fitness and Pvolve.
And, let’s set the record straight — I’m by no means a “yogi,” nor can I do a headstand (or anything remotely close). However, I enjoyed learning the different flows and understanding the different ways my body responded to the intentional movements.
I’ve tried plenty of Alo Moves classes and have divided my review notes for each category:
Yoga
As you can probably imagine, Yoga is one of Alo Moves’ most fleshed-out categories (which, is no surprise, considering Alo Yoga is the sister brand).
Alo MovesI truly enjoyed the 35-minute Balance & Strength Vinyasa class with instructor Ashley Gavin. Not only did I have the added benefit of enjoying a lesson taught from a beautiful outdoor landscape (a bonus, as nearly all of Alo Moves’ courses are filmed outside) but I also learned how to appropriately use a yoga block on my yoga mat.
Additionally, the yoga classes preach progress over perfection. I’ve been told numerous times (by numerous instructors) that it’s OK to fall out of your pose or lose your balance. As a beginner to yoga, this was reassuring and motivating simultaneously while taking the classes.
The Wake Up & Flow class, part of the Hatha yoga division, was another one of my favorites. It’s an 18-minute class with instructors Jacy Cunningham and Tawny Janae, allowing me to understand the importance of holding each pose and listening to my body.
Though yoga isn’t part of the list of Wellness courses Alo Moves has to offer, it was impressive to see how wellness is at the epicenter of the platform as a whole.
Pilates
Pilates has received quite a mass following in recent years and, once I took a handful of Pilates classes with my Alo Moves membership, I understood the appeal. Pilates is most similar to plenty of the offerings you’ll find on Pvolve – because that platform is focused on “small, intentional movement.” However, Alo Moves upped the ante on its Pilates a bit by including more dynamic movements — ones most similar to what you’d find at an in-person pilates studio.
Alo MovesI enjoyed the Lower Body Pilates Spice class with instructor Bianca Wise. It’s a 32-minute class that helped tone my glutes and legs — without overdoing it. I enjoyed the instructor’s positive energy and motivation, in particular, and was surprised I finished the class (Pilates is no easy feat!)
In addition to this course, the Yogalates: Bands class — a marriage of both yoga and pilates — was wonderful with instructor Johanna Thompson. It’s a 23-minute class using resistance bands.
The series Yogalates also has classes on flexibility and cardio to have a more 360-degree lens of the practice couplings.
Dance
As someone who had taken professional dance classes for years before college, I knew it wasn’t going to be long before I tried Alo Moves’ Dance offerings. Namely, the 16-minute Dance Cardio Party with instructor Meghan McFerran was perfection. The class had me jumping, feeling energized, and bending at just the right moments to feel like I was prepping for “Dancing with the Stars.”
Alo MovesThe Dancebody Program was exactly what I was looking for — an offering Alo Moves hit spot-on. There’s a lack of adult dance classes in my area, and this all-in-one program had me feeling like I was enrolled in a dance troupe.
Combining cardio and sculpting moves, I felt like I was receiving a multi-faceted workout at home. This series began with five targeted classes to provide a solid foundation of what was in store, then led into nine workouts grouped by energy: low-impact, high-impact and hip-hop hits. For the final class, each group combined choreography from the previous two classes.
Stretching
I’m a stickler about stretching (side note: I probably sound like a broken record to my friends and family each time I tell them to “stretch daily!“) Especially if you have an office job, your neck, shoulders and back need the support.
That’s why I enjoyed Alo Moves’ Stretching classes. I’ve held a strict 30-minute stretch routine for as long as I can remember, and each of instructor Ajay James‘ programs had me feeling good.
Alo MovesI don’t think any flow of movement was easier and more rejuvenating than his 16-minute Upper Body Relaxation class — one I took in the wee hours of the morning before sitting at my desk. While a chair was required, the class wasn’t difficult to follow. There’s also an emphasis on shoulder rolls and head rotations, which I loved.
Additionally, the 10-minute Neck Relief class was instrumental in helping my body unwind after a long day. Not to mention, I was sleeping on a *pretty* uncomfortable pillow for weeks before this class, and I felt like all of my tension melted away.
While there are still so many Alo Moves classes yet to learn from (apologies for not taking any Wellness offerings as of yet; I was too busy using one of my favorite platforms for our Headspace review), I’m excited to dive deeper into mindfulness with Alo Moves.

No special equipment is required. “Many of our classes require only you and your mat,” Trindall noted. “For those wanting more, there are options that incorporate things like dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands and Pilates balls, so there’s something for everyone.”
What types of classes does Alo Moves offer?
Alo Moves’ most popular content is centered on low-impact movement, spanning Yoga, Barre, and Pilates. But the platform also offers a variety of fitness content, including strength training (in and outside of the gym), HIIT, Sculpt, Running, Walking, and Dance Cardio.
“Mindfulness is also at the forefront of everything we do with options spanning breathwork, soundbaths and meditations,” Trindall noted. “Over the past two years, we’ve also introduced experimental and self-care content, like journaling, gua sha, dry brushing tutorials, face yoga and contrast therapy. Is Alo Moves good for beginners?
Alo Moves (and Alo Moves XR) are perfect for beginners! The platform offers filters to find introductory and beginner-level classes, regularly refreshes its curated playlists for all fitness levels, and has several programs designed to start a wellness journey or try a new modality, like Emily Sferra’s New to Barre series, Annie Landa’s 7-Day Beginner Yoga series, or Bianca Melas’ Pilates Foundation series.

“We do offer several curated series that are designed with specific goals in mind, which can serve as your personal workout plan, like 21-Days Pilates Strong, which focuses 21 days on building your Pilates practice or 10 Days to Stronger Legs, which combines strength training and HIIT to help strengthen and target your lower half,” Trindall highlighted.

Can I track my progress?
Yes, you can log your workouts, track series completion, and even note how each class made you feel. With features like custom playlists, it’s easy to stay motivated and monitor your progress week to week.

How we tested
