While the self-proclaimed best lip color is subject to change year after year, one thing doesn’t — the trusty, glam-evoking clear lip gloss.

Whether channeling Blair Waldorf with a mauve, highly pigmented lipstick or deciding to go bold for the evening with a spicy red lip, one thing is for certain: my bottom lip is being saturated with a glossy shimmer to tie the whole look together.

And, if you’re looking to do a 180 makeup refresh, check out our full-coverage guide to the best foundations we tested.

Since no two lip products were created equal, we put a few of the most popular glosses to the test and explained the subtle differences between one shade to the next.

That said, since we only tested clear glosses, they are surely all comparable. So, whether you’re a die-hard lover of everything Too Faced or are looking for a new brand to try, we have you covered (and glossy).

1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Diamond Lip Gloss, $20

As a brand taking up nearly 75% of my vanity’s rent (read my full brand review for more), Anastasia Beverly Hills surely didn’t disappoint with its Diamond Lip Gloss. It adds a beautiful shimmer, provides a smooth formula and is my most recommended clear gloss to date.

2. bareMinerals Mineralist Lip Gloss Balm, $20

SephoraSephora

If there’s one item you buy from this list, it’s the bareMinerals Mineralist Lip Gloss Balm. Truthfully, If I was left with one lip product on a deserted island, it would be this one. Not only does its clear lip gloss provide a sultry, juicy sheen, but its other colors are unmatched; I find myself wearing them year-round.

3. Bobbi Brown Crushed Oil-Infused Lip Gloss, $32

SephoraSephora

If you want a clear, subtle lip gloss that’s also creamy, the Bobbi Brown Crushed Oil-Infused Lip Gloss is what you should add to your cart. My personal favorite is the Free Spirit shade, but there are so many fabulous options to choose from. Plus, the packaging is of great quality and the brush is simple to swipe on.

4. Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil, $38

SephoraSephora

Yes, the hype is real. The Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil not only has a natural, lightweight finish but it accentuates the natural color of your lips. Plus, it’s great for chapped lips, much like your lip balm.

5. Hourglass High-Shine Volumizing Lip Gloss, $32

Meet my favorite all-around lip gloss. As its name suggests, Hourglass’ gloss is “unreal” and a true “high-shine” formula. Its Truth shade — a beige rose that’s my new fall lip color — instantly felt satin-like upon applying and is perfect for creating a lively shimmery tint.

But, though all other shades are great for that ‘lipstick and gloss in one’ product, its Halo shade is the star of the show for this edit. Plus, the line has a refreshing cooling effect.

6. Lancôme Juicy Tubes Original Lip Gloss, $20

SephoraSephora

If there’s a product to take us back to our middle school days, it’s the Lancôme Juicy Tubes. Not only is it simple to apply but its shimmer and shine is one of the most profound out of all I’ve tested. Plus, it’s just $20, so you’ll want to pick up all the shades.

7. Lawless Forget The Filler Lip Plumper Line Smoothing Gloss, $25

Hellooo fruity-smelling lip gloss. The Lawless Forget The Filler Lip Plumper Line Smoothing Gloss is truly delectable and is one of the thickest clear lip glosses we tested — and it truly does plump. That said, it’s going to be one of my most reached-for lippies.

8. Sephora Collection Glossed Lip Gloss, $10

Let’s talk budget. Sephora Collection’s Glossed Lip Gloss in Boss is your next purchase if you want to try the glossy look but don’t want to spend the big bucks. Plus, it does the job nicely.

9. Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm, $21

SephoraSephora

Not only did the Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Balm go viral on TikTok, but it’s completely worth the attention. Never have I ever tried a lip gloss with so much hydration (it just oozes out) that gives you the most glam — yet natural — feminine look. Buy this now.

Pro tip: also snatch its Grapefruit shade. You won’t be sorry.

10. Tower 28 Beauty Clean ShineOn Jelly Lip Gloss, $15

As one of the most affordable clear lip gloss on this list, you can’t go wrong with Tower 28 Beauty’s Clean ShineOn Jelly Lip Gloss in Magic. For the price, it’s well worth it; it coated my lips with a stunning, hydrating dazzle.
