I didn’t think a vacuum could spark joy until this one started exposing every speck of dust I thought I’d already cleaned.

The first time I used it, I gasped. The second time, I almost jumped. And now, I can’t imagine cleaning without it. Seriously, it’s oddly thrilling to see what you’ve been missing with other vacuums.

Its standout feature is how effortlessly this model cleans. Older models required strategy: switch this head, grab that attachment, hope the battery lasts. The Gen5detect, however, uses a savvy grab-it-and-turn-it-on maneuver. The built-in crevice tool is always ready for those impossible-to-reach crumbs, the anti-tangle brush tackles pet hair without getting jammed and the vacuum automatically adjusts suction depending on how dirty your floors are. It literally thinks for you.

And the battery — up to 70 minutes of runtime — means I can clean my whole house in one go without stressing about having to recharge mid-vacuum session.

Yes, it’s a splurge. But with the Big Spring Sale underway, this model is a worthwhile indulgence. If you care about clean floors but hate the effort (or if you just want to feel slightly powerful while vacuuming), this is the Dyson to beat. I’ve tried the lineup, I’ve done the comparisons and I keep coming back to this one.
