I’m sort of breaking up with sugar.

After getting sucked into several studies that show the damage excess sugar does to our cells, and scrolling through a montage of TikToks revealing impressively depuffed faces after month-long sugar cleanses, I called it. My New Year’s resolution: a month with no added sugars.

Key word: added. I’m still allowing myself honey, natural sugars from fruits and vegetables, and the occasional artificial sweetener. But my stopping point is added, refined sugars. Something I am now realizing is hiding in everything I like to eat: sushi, pizza, yogurt, peanut butter and, unfortunately, almost all my favorite protein bars.

The cravings during the detox phase are real, and I’m only on day 6. But, one bar that doesn’t count against my almost-sugar-free diet: Quest Bars. And they’re seriously filling. Today, a variety pack of these high-protein, keto-friendly bars are 30% off on Amazon — so yes, I’m stocking up.

And at under $2 a bar, I have no plans to quench my Quest cravings anytime.

I know that reaching my daily protein goal can help satiate some of my cravings and keep me energized, but it wasn’t easy to find a sugar-free protein bar that didn’t taste like chalk.

After digging through the best protein bars, I landed on Quest bars. Each bar packs in 20 grams of protein, 4 net carbs and zero added sugar. Plus, they come in decadent flavors like Blueberry Muffin, Birthday Cake and my personal favorite, Double Chocolate Chunk.

As soon as I started incorporating these bars to my diet, I began thinking clearly again. Pre-Quest Bars, I was essentially dreaming of sugar-packed, chocolate-drenched sweet treats all day long. Now, I’m just dreaming of my next Quest. Baby steps, but at least better choices are being made.
