This week, The Post’s Andrew Marchand spoke with Fox Sports analyst Jimmy Johnson. The 60-year-old Johnson again will be part of the Fox Sunday pregame show.
Q: How do you think the Giants are going to do?
A: They are kind of my dark-horse team out of the NFC. I’ve liked what they have done. I like the improvement that everyone expects on special teams, some of the additions personnel-wise. I think they could be strong.
Q: How about the Jets?
A: Herm [Edwards] has done a heck of a job, but they have lost some players. I just don’t know if losing that talent will not be felt. I do like [Chad] Pennington. He gives them a chance because he is such a good player.
Q: How are Bill Parcells and Jerry Jones going to work together in Dallas?
A: They are going to get along fine. I think they are both good for each other, at least in the short term. But both of them are short-term people anyway. I don’t know if Jerry is going to have any coach for a long, long time. I don’t know if Bill is going to stay in any one place for a long, long time.
But for the next few years I think they are going to be really good for each other, and I think the team will be significantly better. They are not going to beat themselves. They are going to be better on special teams. I think they will be a factor, but until they get the quarterback situation taken care of, I don’t know if they are going to be a playoff team.
Q: What was your best advice when you spoke with Parcells?
A: The biggest thing I said was, as far as working with Jerry, communicate. Jerry and I did that the first couple of years. We were back-and-forth in each other’s offices all the time. Jerry wants to be in the loop.
The last couple of years, Jerry was going his way and I was going my way. I would turn on the TV and Jerry would be talking about something about the football team and it would be just the opposite of what I was actually doing.
Q: Will you ever coach again?
A: No. 100 percent no.
