John Bligen may not be the best known amateur athlete in New York, but he is among the most dedicated. Bligen, who is afflicted with cerebral palsy, has run two New York City Marathons, taking two days to complete his first.

For his efforts Bligen will receive an Outstanding Achievement Award tonight from Muhammad Ali at the United Cerebral Palsy gala at the Marriott Marquis. Ali is the main honoree at the affair, which has already raised more than $1 million.
