Arsenal survived an Everton comeback to win 2-1 at Goodison Park Sunday, moving up to second place in the English Premier League table.
The Gunners, who broke open the scoring on 36 minutes with a rare goal by Bacary Sagna, doubled their lead when star midfielder Cesc Fabregas slotted home three minutes after the break following a one-two with Marouane Chamakh.
But Everton refused to give up, forcing Gunners keeper Lukasz Fabianski to produce some fine saves to deny a home side comeback.
The Toffees finally pulled one back via Tim Cahill on 89 minutes after a Saha knock down set up a grandstand finish, but Arsenal held on for a vital victory.
The win places Arsenal two points behind league leaders Chelsea, who are at home Sunday evening against Sunderland.
