David Beckham admitted Wednesday he has no plans to pursue another stint in European soccer.
The 35-year-old midfielder returned to the U.S. in September after his second loan spell with Italian club AC Milan.
The Los Angeles Galaxy star said he would not be looking for a move this year, turning his focus instead on getting back to full strength.
Beckham made his return to the field September 11 after a six-month absence due to a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered while playing for Milan.
The Englishman intends to continue his bid for another spot on England’s international team. Beckham would like to add to the second best all-time 115 appearances for his country.
“Ever since I was a little kid all I ever wanted to do was to play for my country,” Beckham said. “Whether the road is over or not, I don’t really know, but I will continue to work hard to get my fitness right because that’s the important bit at the moment.”
Beckham plays his next match for the LA Galaxy, currently first in the MLS Western Conference, Sunday against last place fellow L.A.-area team Chivas USA.
