The Islanders hope to break a two-game slide tonight when they host the Flyers at the Coliseum. With their 2-1 overtime loss at Buffalo Wednesday, the Isles continue to give rookie Rick DiPietro little offensive support.

Despite allowing just six goals and making 81 saves in his first three NHL games, the 19-year-old goaltender is 0-3-0.

While the Isles want to give DiPietro most of the starts the rest of the season, veteran John Vanbiesbrouck could be in the nets tonight against his former team.

Vanbiesbrouck, 37, is coming off an impressive 37-save performance in a 3-2 win against the Devils a week ago Wednesday.

The Isles (14-31-5-3) leave after tonight’s game for Montreal to face the Canadiens tomorrow. From there, they head to Ottawa to take on the Senators Monday.
