The ACC game of the year will briefly take a backseat to President-elect Joe Biden on Saturday night.
No. 1 Clemson and No. 4 Notre Dame are set to kick off at 7:35 p.m. on NBC, but the game will move to USA Network when Biden addresses the nation at about 8 p.m., the network announced. The game will move back to NBC once NBC News’ coverage of the address has concluded.
The game between the two unbeaten teams — the 7-0 Tigers and 6-0 Fighting Irish — lost some star power with Trevor Lawrence still sidelined following a bout with COVID-19, but it could still be a preview of the ACC Championship game.
Clemson and Notre Dame last played in the 2018 college football playoffs semifinal, which the Tigers won 30-3 on the way to a national championship.
Lawrence is expected to be on Clemson’s sideline Saturday, after completing his 10-day isolation but still needing to get through cardiovascular testing, to watch freshman D.J. Uiagalelei make his second straight start at quarterback.
