The Big East had two teams – 15th ranked Pittsburgh and 25th ranked West Virginia – in the first USA Today Top 25 college football poll. Also receiving votes in the poll were Cincinnati (finished 26th), Connecticut (33rd) and South Florida (45th).
Notre Dame was 34th in the poll with 38 votes, two less than Connecticut.
