Even as the Big East Conference interim commissioner, Joseph Bailey III, was telling reporters yesterday on a conference call that it could take three months for the league to find a permanent replacement for John Marinatto, who resigned this week, The Post has learned of two potential candidates who should receive serious attention.

Tom Brosnan, MLB’s executive vice president for business, and Jeff Zucker, the former president and CEO of NBC, are both experienced leaders and accomplished dealmakers. The Big East will need that expertise as it faces critical TV contract negotiations.

Brosnan is a graduate of Georgetown and Fordham Law School.

Zucker is a Harvard grad.

It’s believed neither candidate had been contacted yet.
