MINNEAPOLIS – Tired of John Rocker’s act, the Braves will deal the controversial left-handed reliever to the Indians before tomorrow’s 4 p.m. trading deadline, The Post has learned.
When the Indians acquired Bob Wickman from the Brewers Friday, they did so with getting Rocker from the Braves in mind.
“The Braves can pick from a list consisting of Paul Shuey, Steve Karsay and Wickman, although if the Indians give up Shuey they want something more than Rocker,” an AL source said.
One theory was that Brewer GM Dean Taylor moved Wickman to the Indians so that Braves GM John Shurholz, Taylor’s former boss, could get Wickman for Rocker, a pitcher the Brewers have no use for.
