The Sugar Bowl honored the late Carley McCord by reserving a seat for her in the press box Wednesday night.
McCord, who was one of five passengers killed in a plane crash in Lafayette, Louisiana on Saturday at age 30, was a Louisiana sports reporter. The Sugar Bowl is one of college football’s biggest bowl games and is held every year in New Orleans at the Superdome.
Flowers were placed at the seat reserved for McCord, the daughter-in-law of LSU offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger.
McCord’s husband, Steve Ensminger Jr., said his wife tried to call him before Saturday’s plane crash. He found out the news of McCord’s death from his aunt Betty.
“And that’s when my world fell apart,” Ensminger told ABC News.
McCord’s funeral is scheduled for Saturday in Baton Rouge, according to The Advocate.
