The watching and waiting continues for the Nets and the expected firing of Don Casey, which could occur today.

This is getting almost as exciting as the Nets’ season.

Sources close to the situation insisted yesterday that a “resolution to the situation” would occur sometime this week. The Nets offices were closed yesterday, giving Casey, almost cruelly, one more day to ponder his fate. One source said that “things could begin to move forward [today]”.

Because he has not been living on the dark side of the moon or the trunk of an old Buick, Casey has been aware of reports that claim he will be fired after compiling a 31-51 record this season, and a 44-68 mark since replacing John Calipari on March 15 of last year. Casey has said he would consider offers for another position in the organization, but said he would make no plans until his fate as coach is finalized.
