The Mets are planning to ask Chris Chambliss to finish his two-year contract as a roving minor-league hitting instructor next season, a well-placed source told The Post yesterday. It was unclear whether Chambliss would accept the post or begin looking for work with another organization. As The Post reported yesterday, Denny Walling is almost certain to succeed Chambliss as the club’s big-league hitting coach.
