Chel$ki sacks Scolari
Chelsea tell Scolari “Get Out!”
Luiz Felipe Scolari has been sacked as manager of Chelsea today. Just got an email straight from the club, and maybe I’ve been clueless, but I didn’t expect them to can the Brazilian right now.
“Luiz Felipe Scolari has been dismissed as manager of Chelsea Football Club today (Monday, February 9) with immediate effect,” the release said.
“The Chelsea board would like to place on record our gratitude for his time as manager. Felipe has brought many positives to the club since he joined and we all feel a sense of sadness that our relationship has ended so soon. Unfortunately the results and performances of the team appeared to be deteriorating at a key time in the season.
“In order to maintain a challenge for the trophies we are still competing for we felt the only option was to make the change now. The search for a new manager has already started and we hope to have someone in place as soon as possible. While that continues Assistant Coach Ray Wilkins will take charge of the team on a temporary basis.”
Oh my damn. He just got the job last summer, replacing Avram Grant. His last game in charge was a goalless draw at home to Hull on Saturday, getting booed off the pitch.
You know, when the Special One brought Chelsea over here for Champions World one year, I cornered him alone in Giants Stadium and he told me coaching Chel$ki was the toughest managing job in the world. I had to stop myself from asking him if he was on crack. But maybe he had a point….
What do you think of this shocking news?
