Conor McGregor and Jake Paul got into a war of words during the Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano fight Saturday night, a fight co-promoted by Paul.

During Taylor’s win, McGregor tweeted to Paul, ‘Who the f–k is this jackass in the pink Jimmy saville glasses?”

This came before Ireland’s Taylor won a controversial split-decision win over Serrano.

Paul responded to McGregor’s tweet saying Paul “has done more for fighters than you ever have,” that he “won 5 fights in the past 2 years while you have lost 5,” that he “isn’t owned by Dana White,” is “the one who made the fight you just watched happen” and “got your hero Katie Taylor paid.

“That’s who,” Paul wrote to end his tweet.

The two have traded some light verbal sparring in the past, although McGregor had mostly refused to respond to Paul’s pokes.

Even in 2020, McGregor did not respond to Paul’s rant on Instagram where he referred to McGregor’s wife Dee Devlin as a “four” and said, “you could do a lot better.”

This would mark one of the first times there was a true back-and-forth between these two. McGregor did box Floyd Mayweather in 2017 and there has been speculation he too could match up at some point with Paul, who announced Sunday he’s fighting on Aug. 13 but did not reveal his opponent.

McGregor used to fight at 145 pounds while Paul has been boxing at 185 pounds.

McGregor has not fought since he broke his leg in a freak accident against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. It is unknown when he would return to the octagon. He still has two fights left on his UFC contract, per ESPN.

Any boxing bout would have to be allowed by Dana White or be done after his contract is up.
