Conor McGregor canceled his Dustin Poirier trilogy fight on Monday over $500,000.
The Irishman, known for his fiery temper and powerful punches, threw down with Poirier over the weekend because of a yet-to-be-paid donation.
“The fight is off btw,” McGregor tweeted at Poirier. “I’m going to fight someone else on the 10th.”
Who will actually climb into the octagon against McGregor on July 10 at UFC 264 remains to be seen, but there was no escaping Poirier’s claims of a hefty — and outstanding — donation.
After their UFC 257 bout in January, McGregor made headlines for promising $500,000 to Poirier’s Good Fight Foundation, which provides resources to underprivileged youth in Poirier’s home state of Louisiana.
Poirier won the match to even their head-to-head record at one win apiece. McGregor, who beat Poirier in 2014, prognosticated a knockout win over the weekend, igniting a social media brawl.
“That’s a fun prediction!” Poirier tweeted in response. “You also predicted a donation to my foundation and you and your team stopped responding after the fight in January.”
McGregor, the former featherweight and lightweight champ, acknowledged he has yet to fork anything over and would first like details of how the money would be used.

I do with all my donations. Know where it’s going dot for dot. Otherwise it goes walking. As is the case with a lot of these foundations, sadly. You took the McG over the belt shows I was right.”
McGregor and his agent seemingly indicated the donation would still be made — though McGregor only had insults to offer Poirier after the Twitter spat.
“You’re ripped you inbred hillbilly,” McGregor tweeted. “Why do you wink with your ears? You f–king brain dead hillbilly. 500k with no plan in place. Ye hang tight. Fool. You must be new to money. The fight is off btw. I’m going to fight someone else on the 10th. Good luck on your old contract kid.”
