Arizona’s East Valley Tribune reports the Phoenix Suns have given coach Mike DâAntoni permission to speak with other NBA teams.
The paper says KTAR (620 AM), the Suns’ flagship station, reported late Sunday night that GM Steve Kerr had granted DâAntoni permission to speak with the Knicks and the Chicago Bulls about their vacant head coaching positions.
Kerr said as late as Friday morning he would not grant such permission. SI.com reports that Knicks president Donnie Walsh flew to Phoenix to interview D’Antoni, and they two met either last night or today. The Web site reports D’Antoni’s other interview was with John Paxson of the Chicago Bulls, also in Phoenix.
The Web site said no job offers had been tendered as of early Monday afternoon.
