At least this horrendous six-game Devil homestand will end with a decent chance for a win.

Tampa Bay closes out the stand tonight, and if the Devils can’t get two points against the Lightning, coach Robbie Ftorek just may admit it’s time to panic.

After blowing another point to Toronto on Monday night in a 3-3 tie, Ftorek held an optional practice yesterday, and 12 players attended. “Guys need rest as much as they need practice,” Ftorek contended.

The Devils, 1-3-1 so far on the homestand, will go to Detroit on Friday before returning home for the Islanders on Saturday.

When the Lightning actually were playing some good hockey, they beat the Devils 3-1 Nov. 8 at the Ice Palace. They’ve since resorted to being the worst team in the league, and are 1-12-1 at the Meadowlands.
