LOWDOWN: Coming off a four-month layoff, Zapparition set the pace going 1³/₈ miles over this turf course four weeks ago and missed by a neck. The 5-year-old mare has some back class, and with a race under her belt, could have the edge over her two main opponents, Unbridled Humor and Romacaca, who both haven’t raced since last year.

Gulfstream Park, ninth race. Purse: $150,000. 1¹/₈ miles, turf, Florida-bred 4-year-olds and up. Post: 4:50 p.m.

LOWDOWN: Teaks North didn’t show much here two weeks ago making his first start since finishing far back in the Breeders’ Cup Turf, but he surely needed that race, has a class edge on this field and gets a big rider switch to John Velazquez. His major foe, Little Mike, will be hard to catch, but the distance is probably a bridge too far for him.

Gulfstream Park, 10th race. Purse: $400,000. 1¹/₈ miles, Florida-bred 4-year-olds and up. Post: 5:25 p.m.

LOWDOWN: Ron the Greek, who showed plenty of unfulfilled promise early in his career, finally has put it all together since moving to Bill Mott’s barn, winning his last two starts in two-turn stakes at Aqueduct by daylight margins. The 5-year-old should be a major force in this year’s handicap division.
