Saratoga enters its stretch run with three stakes races Saturday, and the Post’s Ed Fountaine tells you how best to bet them.
PERSONAL ENSIGN
Saratoga, eighth race. Grade 1. Purse: $300,000. 11⁄4 miles, fillies and mares. Post: 4:39 p.m.
LOWDOWN: Acronym reminds us of Royal Delta, who won the Alabama two weeks ago. Both are trained by Hall-of-Famer Bill Mott. Both were stretching out to 1 1⁄4 miles off losing preps over the track at 11⁄8 miles. Both are daughters of Belmont Stakes winner Empire Maker, and therefore well-bred to handle the added distance.

FOREGO
Saratoga, ninth race. Grade 1. Purse: $250,000. 7 furlongs, 3-year-olds and up. Post: 5:12 p.m.
LOWDOWN: Trainer Nick Zito hasn’t had a lot to smile about at this meet, but one big exception is Jackson Bend. Making his first start since May in a July 22 overnight stakes, the 4-year-old Florida-bred came with a rush up the rail to beat a top-class field by 21⁄2 lengths in a very sharp 1:204⁄5 for seven furlongs. It was the first win since he was a 2-year-old for Jackson Bend, who last year placed in the Fountain of Youth, Wood Memorial and Preakness.

WOODWARD
Saratoga, 10th race. Grade 1. Purse: $750,000. 11⁄8 miles, 3-year-olds and up. Post: 5:45 p.m.
LOWDOWN: Mambo Meister didn’t beat much when he won the July 24 Primal at Calder at 1-5, but he sure did beat them by a lot. Before his 11-race romp in the Primal, the 6-year-old gelding won the Mecke by four at today’s distance. Horses coming out of Calder are usually dead-fit, and he could be poised to spring the upset here for Phil Gleaves, a former assistant to Woody Stephens.
