Mike Emrick’s last act as a Devils-caster may have been Wednesday, when he was host of the Devils’ New Jersey Stanley Cup celebration.

Word out of Bristol is that ESPN is eager to wrest Emrick from FSNY, meaning the best in the hockey play-by-play business would depart Devils cablecasts in favor of ESPN/ABC’s national NHL telecasts.

ESPN officially would neither confirm nor deny active recruitment of Emrick, but ESPN sources say the network is hot on his trail.
