‘FLAMINGO’ HAS HER WAY
Flamingo Way, a longshot despite winning two races in a row over the Aqueduct inner dirt track, made it three in a row yesterday with a game score in the $60,000 Correction Handicap for fillies and mares.
Ridden by Julio Pezua, the 5-year-old mare trained by Roy Sedlacek surged to the lead in mid-stretch and looked in trouble as Go Again Valid, the stronger half of the 3-5 entry with Parlay from the John Kimmel barn, came rallying up on the outside to get within a head of the lead.
But Flamingo Way would not be denied, turning back Go Again Valid to win by three-quarters of a length after six furlongs in 1:11. She paid $33.80 to top a $69 exacta. Hip Wolf rallied for third.
