Fox Sports is in the beginning stages of developing 3-D television technology that it believes will revolutionize the sports-viewing experience.
“Three-D is going to be the next big thing,” Fox Sports Chairman David Hill said. “I reckon that it will happen in the next 10 years.” Hill and Fox Sports have done some tests over the last two years, shooting football and other events in 3-D.
“It is going to be as big as color [TV] ,” Hill said.
While Hill thinks high definition is “great for what it is,” he didn’t seem to feel it could change the success of a sport.
With 3-D, according to Hill, boxing could again become a consistent bigtime viewing sport.
“Three-D will recreate boxing as a major sport,” Hill said.
When 3-D is ready to go, the old paper glasses are not expected to be needed.

With Tony Kornheiser on ESPN’s Monday Night Football, could his Pardon The Interruption partner, Michael Wilbon, work as an NBA game analyst?
“There was some talk about it at the end of last year, but I’m not doing games,” Wilbon said. “I’m not Tony.” Wilbon, who joined ABC’s NBA pre-game show last season, said he worked as a game analyst on Redskins’ exhibitions in a three-man booth.
“It stressed me out every day leading up to the game,” Wilbon said.

Fox Sports’ Terry Bradshaw is serious about continuing as an actor. After taking off his clothes in Failure To Launch, Bradshaw will be in the ABC Family movie, Relative Chaos, that debuts Sept. 4. On top of that, Bradshaw said he recently read for five new parts and hopes to land another big role soon.
“It is not glamorous,” Bradshaw said.

Before picking Joe Buck to work its NFL pregame, ESPN’s Dan Patrick was another choice that Fox was considering. Speaking of Buck, who now is Fox Sports’ lead MLB and NFL play-by-player, does he think adding his NFL pregame and postgame duties could overexpose him?
“Yes,” said Buck before turning serious. “It is a definite concern on my part. I don’t know how you avoid it unless you go through it. I don’t want stuff thrown at me like Nicholas Cage in The Weatherman – “Hey, you’re the anchor guy”- and get hit in the face by a burrito.” * With Fox’ NFL Sunday traveling to stadiums, Jillian Barberie won’t be part of the show this year.
… Marshall Faulk, who still has designs about returning to the NFL if his knees improve, will be an NFL Network analyst this season.

Howie Long, who also is on Fox Sports’ NFL Sunday, thinks Jet firstround pick D’Brickashaw Ferguson is the real deal.
Long, a Hall of Famer, saw nearly all of Ferguson’s games at Virginia because Long’s son, Chris, is a standout defensive lineman for Al Groh.
“He was the most dominant left tackle out there,” Long said. “He has great athleticism. He has tremendous work ethic.
He is a combination of Mike Kenn/Richmond Webb. He is different. He has tremendous feet.”
