Mike Fratello, one of only 18 NBA coaches to surpass 500 wins, has been offered the Grizzlies’ coaching job and is expected to accept, possibly as early as today, The Post has learned.

Ironically, Fratello would replace 71-year-old Hubie Brown, for whom he worked as an assistant for four seasons with the Hawks and Knicks. Brown retired from coaching Thursday, saying he had lost his energy and citing unspecified health reasons.

Fratello, who served as coach of the Cavaliers from 1993 to 1999, guided teams to the playoffs in nine of his 13 seasons. He coached the Hawks for seven seasons from 1983-1990.

A TV analyst for TNT and the Sunshine Network since he left the NBA coaching ranks, Fratello has spent last two days taking care of his obligations with the Turner network and the Heat.

His deal is expected to be for three or four years at an average of $4 million per. If it falls through at the last minute, interim coach Lionel Hollins will be promoted to full-time coach.

The Grizzlies play the Knicks tonight in the Garden and it’s possible that Fratello could be on the Memphis bench. If Fratello takes the job, Hollins and the other assistants will remain on board through the remainder of the season.
