The Bulldogs brought out the belt on Saturday — both figuratively and literally.

Georgia players ruthlessly trolled Alabama after rolling to a 28–7 smackdown of the Crimson Tide in the SEC championship game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

After the game, a pack of Bulldogs huddled around junior defensive lineman Christen Miller, who continued the beatdown by pretending to spank the Crimson Tide with a belt.

The No.3-ranked Georgia (12–1) pummeled No. 9 Alabama (10–3) on its way to a second straight SEC title.

The loss surprisingly did no harm to Alabama, however, as they remained at No. 9 in the CFP rankings and made the playoff bracket over Notre Dame.

The Bulldogs, who had never beaten Alabama in a conference championship setting, shut out the Crimson Tide through the first three quarters and held them to negative three rushing yards in the contest — yes, negative.

Meanwhile, Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton connected on 20 of his 26 passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions to take home the game’s MVP award.

“We approached it the same, like it was a big game, and didn’t make it bigger than it was,” Stockton said after the game.

The Bulldogs avenged their loss to the Crimson Tide earlier this season, improving to 4-0 in second-chance games under head coach Kirby Smart — a record that also includes a bounce-back win over Alabama in the 2021 national championship game.

“We never quit,” Stockton said. “We showed that every game. I think that’s one of the best parts about our team.”

Alabama won three national championships in the four-team CFP format under legendary head coach Nick Saban, who announced his retirement ahead of the 2024 season, and will play No. 8 Oklahoma in the first round.

The Bulldogs remained at No. 3 in the CFP rankings despite jumping to No. 2 in the latest AP top 25 poll. Indiana jumped to No. 1 over Ohio State with its Big Ten Championship win over the Buckeyes.
