There’s nothing like a good old-fashion shadefest ahead of a major matchup.
With Saturday’s College Football Playoff Semifinal between Ohio State and Georgia looming, the Bulldogs’ co-defensive coordinator, Will Muschamp, reflected on the schools’ previous meeting in 1993 when he was a safety at Georgia. Muschamp joked Tuesday about how he knew the Bulldogs would win, thanks in part to a pregame toss from the Buckeyes’ then-quarterback, Kirk Herbstreit.
“It was a good win for the ‘dogs,” Muschamp said of Georgia’s 21-14 victory over Ohio State in the Citrus Bowl.
“We had a pregame luncheon and Herbstreit got up and threw a pass across the room, I knew we had a shot to win. Make sure he knows I said that.”
Though the press obliged to Muschamp’s request, Herbstreit — who currently serves as an analyst for ESPN’s top college football analyst ” — appeared to brush off the playful barb.

Perhaps Muschamp and Herbstreit can reconnect Saturday during the Peach Bowl, where the former Ohio State quarterback will be in the booth.
The College Football Playoff Semifinal between top-ranked Georgia and the No. 4 Ohio State kicks off Saturday at 8 p.m. from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The winner will face either Michigan or TCU, with those two schools battling in the Fiesta Bowl earlier that day.
