The Giants yesterday agreed to terms with free safety Omar Stoutmire on a three-year contract that is expected to average close to $1 million per year.

Stoutmire, in his first year as a starter for the Giants (he was a starter for the Cowboys in 1998 and briefly for the Jets in 1999), was fourth on the team with 99 tackles. He did not have an interception and is not considered a big-play threat. But the coaching staff values his consistency, and he can be a hard hitter.
