The Giants reached into the scouting department of the Pats yesterday when they hired Ken Sternfeld as assistant director of pro personnel.

Sternfeld replaces Jerry Reese, recently promoted to director of college player personnel. Sternfeld, 41, is a Long Island native who worked in New England for 21 years, most recently as an East Coast college scout. With the Giants, he will work under Dave Gettleman, the director of pro personnel.
