The Royals left Fresh Meadows with a 55-34 win over St. Francis Prep Tuesday in CHSAA Brooklyn/Queens Division I girls basketball. Ariel Edwards scored nine points, Lauren Nuss added eight and Jackie Michel had seven. Shatira Hamlet led St. Francis Prep with seven points.
CK (15-4, 9-1 B /Q) led just 13-9 after the first quarter, but outscored the Terriers (10-8, 4-5), 22-6, in the second quarter to take a 35-19 lead at the break and never looked back. Junior guard Bria Smith missed the game with a spained ankle, but it is not thought to be anything serious, according to Christ the King coach Bob Mackey.
