SECOND RACE: Another 2-year-old with promise: Globalization, Rick Violette colt well-bet in all three prior starts, was back on dirt going mile after failed attempt to stretch out on turf at Saratoga. Off at 2-1 coupled with Wall Street Humor, 250G son of Touch Gold went to front under Eibar Coa, dueled with 42-1 New York Holiday, put him away, angled in to shut off rail when 8-5 favorite Hyrule tried to rally inside, then drew off to daylight score.

THIRD RACE: In $75,000 Miss Grillo for 2-year-old fillies at mile-and-sixteenth, Sherine, 2-1 favorite under Ramon Dominguez, dashed to daylight lead, tracked by 4-1 Sea Chanter, John Velazquez up, with Namaste’s Wish tucked inside behind those two. Mid-stretch, Sea Chanter, after collaring Sherine turning for home, took lead, but in deep stretch she was overtaken by Namaste’s Wish, 3-1 under Kent Desormeaux coming off maiden score on Spa lawn for Bill Mott.

FOURTH RACE: Americanus, 6-5 favorite under Eibar Coa coming off handy score in similar spot for Gary Contessa, waged heated speed duel with R Clear Victory, 5-1 with Channing Hill up in first start since April for Steve Asmussen, as Mike Tombetta’s Delaware shipper Now a Victor, 8-5 coming off first-out maiden win at Saratoga, taking back to stalk battling pacesetters. Around turn, Ramon Dominguez cruised up wide after leaders, dueled with R Clear Victory as Americanus faded, prevailed in drive.

SIXTH RACE: Six furlongs on turf for 2-year-old maiden fillies: Valid Humor, 5-1 under Eibar Coa, shook loose on lead, chased by 9-5 favorite Lucky Copy, John Velazquez up, blinkers back off trying turf after two starts on dirt. Turning for home, Lucky Copy was hard-ridden to close gap, finally caught Valid Humor, edged clear. But one to watch here is The Cat’s Affair, 8-1 in debut for Barclay Tagg, who charged from back of pack at top of stretch under Ramon Dominguez with electrifying late run to get second.
