Brooks Koepka likely envisioned his start to the PGA Championship going a bit better than what unfolded Tuesday.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, the 32-year-old golfer revealed that he had locked his keys in a courtesy car ahead of a pre-tournament press conference.
“So we’re not at the press conference because we started the car, put the keys in it, went and put the bag in the back… and literally, the car is locked,” Koepka explained in one video.

Koepka documented the ordeal on social media, even as he tried to open the car door to no avail Instagram/Brooks KoepkaKoepka, who is currently ranked 17th in the world, then filmed himself gripping the door handle of the vehicle to no avail.
“Be there soon @pgachampionship,” he added in the video’s caption.
Fortunately, a PGA staffer came to Koepka’s rescue to get him to the media availability, even if a bit delayed.

Koepka later addressed the incident to reporters and poked fun at himself in the process.
“Only me, man,” Koepka said. “It’s like a theme of car troubles. Run out of gas [at home recently] and then this. I’m just glad it didn’t happen on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.”

This year’s PGA Championship gets underway Thursday at the Southern Hills Championship Course in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with Koepka teeing off shortly after 2 p.m.
Beyond golf, Koepka has a busy summer ahead of him as he and Sims, 33, are slated to tie the knot in the near future.
