Stay out of Brooks Koepka’s way right now.
The three-time major champ teed off on Sergio Garcia after the Spaniard’s recent antics got him disqualified from the Saudi International tournament last week.
“Ugh, it’s frustrating as a player to see, to act like that, to disrespect everybody,” Koepka told the “Playing Through” podcast. “To act like a child out there is not cool. It’s not setting a good example and it’s not cool to us, showing us no respect or anybody else.”
Garcia was booted after he damaged a couple of greens in the third round while shooting a 71. Video later emerged of Garcia throwing a temper tantrum in a bunker.
Koepka recently complained about Bryson DeChambeau’s slow play during the previous week’s event in Dubai. Rory McIlroy backed Koepka up on that assertion.
It’s unlikely any golfer would back Garcia over his bizarre temper tantrums.
“That’s just Sergio acting like a child,” said Koepka, who finished tied for 57th in the event. “It’s unfortunate that he’s got to do that and complain. Everybody’s got to play the same golf course. I didn’t play very good, but you didn’t really see anybody else doing that. You’re 40 years old, so you gotta grow up eventually.”
