That was a close call.

CBS golf broadcaster Dottie Pepper was nearly struck by an errant drive by Alex Noren Saturday during the third round of the PGA Tour’s Byron Nelson. The two-time LPGA major winner stayed right in place as the ball whizzed by.

“Almost got me. Don’t flinch!” Pepper said on the broadcast.

After a replay, Pepper said, “Helmet next.”

Pepper, 55, joined CBS Sports in 2016 as an on-course reporter and analyst and became the network’s lead on-course reporter last year. She’s also worked for the Golf Channel, NBC Sports and ESPN.

The Byron Nelson is taking place at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas outside of Dallas. It’s the final event before the year’s second major, the PGA Championship begins Thursday in Kiawah Island, S.C.
